About Zoom

 

Zoom is a video conferencing tool widely used by businesses and campuses. Zoom offers free trial accounts, and paid "pro" accounts, which cost about $100 per year, per user. As an employee of Coast Community College District and the California Community College system, you automatically receive access to the features of a "pro" Zoom account— for free! 

Our Zoom accounts are paid for by a grant from the California Community College Chancellor's office. This short introductory module provides you with information about: 

• activating your Zoom account
• setting up your profile
• customizing your account settings

Zoom seamlessly integrates with Canvas, allowing you to schedule class meetings from within your Canvas course. "CCCD Zoom" is the new app within Canvas that offers more scheduling options, faster recordings downloads, and frequent, applied Zoom updates.  While we have Zoom available currently inside of Canvas, it is called ConferZoom.  We are replacing the ConferZoom app within Canvas on June 7th 2021 to CCCD Zoom.  Your current Canvas navigation menu has a direct connection to Zoom. The interface looks just like Zoom because it is Zoom! 

In summary you can use Zoom now, both inside and outside of Canvas, and the name and change to CCCD Zoom will be coming on June 7th, 2021.
