2️⃣ GWC Level 2 Training
You must provide a GWC Level 1 certificate in order to participate in the GWC Level 2 training or panel review.
Level 2
Golden West College has a two-step Online Teaching Certification process. Faculty wishing to teach online or hybrid classes for the college must successfully complete both Level 1 and Level 2.
In order to satisfy the Level 2 training requirements, Level 1 graduates may:

- pass the five-week Level 2 course facilitated via Canvas.
- pass a Level 2 DEAC Panel Review (subject to availability).

The Level 2 course applies and builds on the skills learned in Level 1. While Level 1 reviewed the basics of using Canvas, Level 2 focuses on the pedagogical best practices and legal requirements of online instruction.

Did you complete the self-paced Level 1 Qualification for Previously Trained Instructors course?
If you have successfully completed the self-paced Level 1 course and would like to enroll in Level 2, please reach out to Reza Mirbolooki ( mmirbolooki@gwc.cccd.edu ) and provide your GWC Level 1 certificate to be enrolled in an open section of Level 2.
Did you complete the four-week Level 1 course?
Faculty with extenuating circumstances may defer Level 2 for one semester after successfully completing Level 1. Winter and Summer Level 1 graduates may defer Level 2 to Fall. Similarly, Fall Level 1 graduates may defer Level 2 to Spring.
In addition, faculty needing to defer Level 2 for a longer period of time must take or repeat the self-paced Level 1 Qualification for Previously Trained Instructors course. Once Level 1 has been repeated, please reach out to Reza Mirbolooki ( mmirbolooki@gwc.cccd.edu ) and provide your GWC Level 1 certificate to be enrolled in an open section of Level 2 or added to a waitlist for the next available session.

The Level 2 DEAC Panel Review process replaces the five-week Level 2 course. During a meeting via Zoom, the instructor will present their fully online or hybrid course to a panel of Distance Education Advisory Committee (DEAC) members. To earn certification, every item on the provided Prep Checklist Download Prep Checklist must be demonstrated and aligned.
If you have successfully completed Level 1 and would like to sign up for the Level 2 DEAC Panel Review process in the Spring or Fall semester, you may reach out to Reza Mirbolooki ( mmirbolooki@gwc.cccd.edu ) and provide your GWC Level 1 certificate.
Note that Panel Review sign ups are subject to availability. Review dates/times are limited in Spring and Fall, so you may need to enroll in the five-week Level 2 course instead.

⭐️ Salary Advancement Credit ⭐️
Our Level 2 Training is pre-approved for Salary Advancement Credits for full-time employees through the Institute for Professional Development Links to an external site., but you must fill out the request form PRIOR to the course beginning.
Once you have enrolled for any of the options above, please submit the Salary Advancement Credits application Links to an external site. to the IPD Office before the course begins.
